Aisling Center President Susan Howe tours Emulate’s cutting edge organ-chip facility in Boston
2.10.23. On Tuesday of this week, I had a fabulous visit to Emulate, a Boston-based global leader in development of leading edge organ-chip technology, known also as microphysiological systems (MPSs). This company is setting the new standards for how we study human biology, and develop therapeutics and cures for disease. Emulate is working on developing and integrating multiple organ-chips, with a current focus on its liver, brain, kidney and intestinal systems. I was invited to witness how their intestine chip is helping us to better understand inflammatory disease processes such as IBS and colitis in the gut. This is the future of biomedical research—more predictive than dogs or other animals, more humane, and less costly. It is a win-win for people and animals, and I am proud to be part of this movement. Thank you Jenn Perkins, Daniel Levner, Josiah Sliz, Chris Carman, and Marianne Kanellias for a warm welcome and a fun and informative day at Emulate!
